WORLD  NEWS TOMORROW – South Korea has rejected a proposal by Japan to take the dispute over a group of islands to the International Court of Justice. Japan made the proposal amid simmering tensions between Tokyo and Seoul, which intensified after President Lee Myung Bak’s visit to the islands last week.

South Korea, which calls the islands ‘Dokdo’, claims they are clearly an integral part of South Korea’s territory historically and geographically and argues that there is no territorial dispute.Japan also claims the islands it calls ‘Takeshima’, and says it was offended by the South Korean leader’s visit.

Japan is now reviewing a currency swap deal with South Korea and is cancelling a high-level visit.
