WORLD NEWS TOMORROW – TURKEY – Six soldiers and two village guards were killed and several others were injured when members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) attacked a military outpost in the southeastern province of Hakkari on Sunday.
A group of terrorists attacked the outpost located in the Geçimli village with long barrel rifles and rockets. A clash erupted after the security forces responded to the attack. Six soldiers and two village guards were killed in the attack. Twelve terrorists were also killed in the clash.
A statement from the Hakkari Governor’s Office said fifteen soldiers, a village guard and five civilians were also injured in the attack. The statement added that an air-backed ground operation is still under way in the region to capture the terrorists.
The PKK attack comes amid ongoing heated clashes in southeastern Turkey on the Iraqi border. The Turkish military launched a large-scale operation in Hakkari’s Şemdinli district last week when PKK terrorists blocked the road of a village in the region and interrogated villagers.
The military has destroyed depots of food, munitions and medicine belonging to the terrorist group in Şemdinli and killed a total of dozens of PKK terrorists since the operations began last week. The operation still continues in the area.
